OPL Carga will build a port in Gamarra on the Magdalena River

The Colombian logistics company OPL announced that they are completing the required designs for the construction of a port in Gamarra, on the Magdalena River. "Today the company has the permits to develop the port, both the concession and the environmental license. We are finalizing the designs, budgets and competitiveness models to start with the construction works of this port, "said Juan Manuel Barco, general manager of OPL, who said that for six years, the firm acquired the required properties and" we started to process permits with Cormagdalena, to obtain the river bank concession ".
The investment, according to the Manager of OPL, amounts to approximately 13 million dollars. According to Barco, this port would have a construction period of 18 months, which they expect to start over the next 12 months. "We did a study 100 years ago of the river to determine the feasibility of building the port in this location," recalled Barco. The objective of the company is to consolidate the use of intermodal transport and thus "gain in efficiency to offer competitive prices in the market".
